Excerpt from Chapter One of As We Lay...
The
Omega Psi Phi annual house party was live, and the girls ended up dancing all
night. It was Breck’s roommate,
Dawn and their friends Melissa and Trina, who had the room adjacent to theirs.
The dorms were designed so that between two rooms was bathroom shared by
four girls.
It
was at least ten degrees hotter in the frat house than it was outside.
To cool off, everyone had to step out onto the porch or front lawn.
The fraternity boys kept the beverages coming; strawberry daiquiris for
the women and beer for the men. Glasses
were replenished as soon as they were emptied.
Melissa’s boyfriend, David, had pledged Omega, and he made sure her
group was taken care of.
The girls lost count of
how many times their glasses were refilled that night, but not before they
realized that they needed to get the hell out of there before ended up in the
room of someone they didn’t know.
